Inspiration Update

Dawes Eddy

Dawes Eddy

Back in May we reported on the remarkable quest of Dawes Eddy, age 66, to conquer Mt Everest. His attempt was the focus of our blog on “Inspiration“. Just his drive and the bold attempt made me think of all the small business owners who by inspiration, drive and perseverance have fought through these adverse market conditions to survive.

On May 19th, Dawes witnessed the sunrise from his 29,035′ high perch, overlooking the Himalayans and for that matter the world!

Dawes was kind enough to send us the attached photo from the 26000′ camp after descending from the peak. He said it would have been a little cumbersome to take the pictures from the summit with 1/2″ of ice on his parka.

Congrats to Dawes who on that date was the oldest American male to reach the summit. Perhaps equally remarkable was that two days later, another climber, Kay LeClaire, from the same town, Spokane Washington, became the second oldest American female to accomplish the same feat!

What’s in Spokane’s water? You probably guessed I took the picture – my friends don’t buy that either!

Side orders:

Vendor Appreciation

I have never been more thankful for my key vendors during this time who are definitely an extension of our company. We can control production under our own roof but it is all for naught without quality suppliers – thank you! Go ahead, thank your suppliers!

Education 101, 2008-2009

Have we learned anything over the past year? How about this-those pundits that taut themselves as experts – aren’t! Those that say that say or act that they know all – don’t! We just changed a long standing service relationship of many years – look for value and results!

Nylon Banners and Pennants

The old days of expensive small runs of nylon banners and pennants are over. Let us quote on your next project.

Green Shoot Sighting

In a recent conversation with a good friend and colleague about a recent uptick in our business, he likened it to the fingers, perhaps signs, of recovery. He has dealt with Fortune 500 companies who are still languishing. But services that are affordable and offer good value, like signs, banners, decals, window graphics and vehicle graphics, may be the first to sense or experience the hint of recovery. It’s important to keep up your visibility and impressions, good times and bad.

Good selling!
